Vampires Don't Sparkle: FEEDBACK! [09 Apr 2010|12:20am]

Heya AB-types.

I co-hosted the 'Vampires Don't Sparkle!' panel on the Saturday of AB. It was an 18+ event, and overall it felt like a big ol' batch of fun ripping on a particular sparkly vampire book and movie franchise.

I posted a thread on the AB Forums asking for feedback. You know just the usual "Hey, what'd you think? Did you like it? Did you hate it?" kind of thing.

The thread was promptly buried. :/

Ah well...it happens.

Now on the one hand, I could take that to mean that the panel was an awesomely huge success and there's no need to change anything because no one said anything needed improvement.

But I...contrary to popular belief...know better.

So in case anyone out there in LJ-land was at the panel (and thanks for coming if you were there!), what'd ya think of it? Any and all feedback is welcome, be it kind or harsh.

Thanks for your time, and I'll see you next year for AB'11! ^_^

Cosplay Singer Reni Mimura [07 Apr 2010|11:18am]

Cosplay singer Reni Mimura performed at Anime Boston this past weekend, and I hope you had a chance to see her. Alltern8.com (which has a cosplay/convention news section) recently did an interview with her, which I thought I'd share: An Exclusive Interview with Cosplay Singer Reni Mimura.

If you didn't get to see her at the con, she does monthly "Maid" shows in New York City, and also performs at other East Coast conventions (like Otakon).

Needing some roomies [09 Mar 2010|10:48pm]

Okay. So I need some roommates for this year's AB. I've got a room at the sheraton It's a king bed room in the quiet block. Thursday- Sunday.

I'm 24, male, and really don't give a damn about what you do or who you are as long as it doesn't potentially get me in trouble (try to be over 18 though, heh) I'm pretty laid back and mellow so really not much bothers me. Price and stuff will be discussed when i actually get some roommates. Drop a comment and I'll get in touch with ya.

The ABrigade. [29 Jul 2009|07:46am]

[ mood | chipper ]

Hey, does anyone remember those three dancing girls from Anime Boston 2009? We performed Haruhi dances all weekend long and really pissed some people off ><. Anyway, I was the "Haruhi" for that group (which is actually called The ABrigade) and I'd like to know if anyone has any videos/pictures of us. We'd really appreciate seeing them, especially so we can put them on our site! If you didn't mind us all weekend, or maybe even liked us, please, join our site! http://abrigade.webs.com/ We're working hard every day to make Anime Boston next year be better! We want to look better, dance better, and have a longer set. :) All suggestions would be great, hope to see you on the site, or even next year!

Thanks to everyone! <3

Extra Life [21 Jul 2009|03:30pm]

87 days remaining to either join or support the cause. Come on guys... It's time to show why being a gamer kicks all kinds of ass. Join me and everyone else from the Sarcastic Gamer community on October 17th for Extra Life where our time at the controller, at the keyboard, or even just around a table with cards or a boardgame can really be more then just a game.

And yes, we have done this before.

WARNING: Below this cut is a rather depressing ad from last year.Collapse )

Does anyone have the complete listing of all the amv contestants? I know you can find the winners but I want a complete list and I wasn't able to get an extra sheet this year. Thanks in advance if possible!

[20 May 2009|12:28am]

so...I found out i need a room for just saturday night...I'm 23, male, easy going, not much of a drinker or a smoker, and I don't mind even sleeping on the floor, on the ceiling, on a bed. Also I know the meaning of soap, water, and deodorant. And I use them. So if you've got space for someone awesome like me, shoot me a line or comment or somethin'

thanks :D

Looking for crash space! [03 May 2009|01:48pm]

I'm 25, a guy, I don't smoke and don't plan on drinking, but I'm not bothered if my roommates do. I like sleeping on the floor, I don't snore, and I won't take up a lot of space. I love meeting new people, but you would probably hardly ever see me, as I like to get to the con early, and come back pretty late (no later than 1 or 2 am).

So if you're looking for an extra person to split costs with, please let me know!

Touhou Cosplayers at AB'09? [30 Apr 2009|11:22am]

Just poking in here and seeing if there are any Touhou Cosplayers this year. A group is forming, or rather HAS formed...and more are welcome!

Thus far we have...

Remilia Scarlet
Flandre Scarlet
Sakuya Izayoi
Hong Meiling (about 75% sure at the moment)
Aya Shimeimaru

Me? I'm just the photographer *insert joke about photos showing up in the Bunbunmaru News here*, but I wanted to get the word out here in case people hadn't seen the thread on the AB Forums, which is here.

Any and all are welcome! We are meeting on Friday at 11AM by the 3rd floor escalators. Hope to see you there!

Updates and Death Note [11 Jan 2009|09:12am]

[ mood | bouncy ]

Registration is available on the AB website, along with hotel info (we're back at the Sheraton this year!), and AMV contest, Masquerade, Cosplay Chess, Artists Alley, etc. etc....
The theme this year is MYSTERY, so I'm expecting to see another 200 L's. Hahaha.

Speaking of which, anybody else doing Death Note this year?

Montreal, anyone? [07 Jul 2008|10:43am]

[ mood | curious ]

Sorry about posting this here, but I thought I might try since we did some advertising for this at Anime Boston, this year.

Anyone thinking about going up to Montreal for their annual anime convention, Otakuthon? http://www.otakuthon.com/en/

I'd love to do a rideshare with like-minded people and share the costs of gas/parking/hotel/etc.

Let me know and we can talk off-line: a dot renee dot johnson at gmail dot com

Question [27 Jun 2008|08:40pm]

[ mood | okay ]

I figured I'd ask here before in the forum.

I'm going to Anime Boston for the first time next year with my friend in Cali. I've attended Anime North for the past two years so I was just curious about something.

Does anyone know long the AB group rate lasts for hotels?

My gal and I would like to stay from Thursday (for pre-reg) until Monday (so we can tend all Sunday events). I know Anime North had their group rate for Sunday night as well... so I'm just curious.
I like planning way ahead so I can manage my money well and since my cosplay partner is coming from across the states, I'd like everything to run smoothly.

Thanks in advance~

Rant! [13 Jun 2008|09:48am]

[ mood | annoyed ]

I know this is long overdue but I had a rant about AB 2008 to let loose =P

Did anyone else have to deal with the HORRID lines for registration? I usually pre register and grab my badge on Thursday before the official start but this year I decided to grab one early the first day. Boy was that a mistake! It was at least a 3 hour wait time for people who pre-registered! Nevermind people who didn't preregister and did it on the spot. (wait times for you all must of been way worse)

So is this a common thing every year, or was I just lucky to pick this year not to pick up my badge on Thursday?
